A barbecue to behold in Faha Court as large crowd comes out to support health link bus
A massive crowd was present at Faha Court last Friday evening as members of the locality got together to show their support for a most worthy cause.
Faha Court owner Seán O'Mahony has combined with the locals in the past to raise vital funds for cancer charities such as Recovery Haven and facilities at University Hospital Kerry.
On Friday evening, he collaborated with Listry GAA and Listry Community Council to repeat the trick with a barbecue fund-raiser, and he was left impressed by participants' willingness to take the time to help out another vital cancer charity.
"The proceeds from the night were for the Kerry-Cork Health Link Bus," Mr O'Mahony explained.
"My own wife, Kathleen, passed away after a battle with cancer, and in the past myself and the parish got together to raise funds for other cancer charities."
This latest event managed to gather €1,650, and Seán was grateful for the support.
"There was a massive crowd, a good local crowd," he said. "It was threatening to rain, it was raining all around us - but, thankfully, it held off."
