THE identical time of 28.90 was clocked by the two fastest winners, Bowline Dyson and Ballyfidora Sid, at last week’s Tuesday SIS meeting at Tralee Track. Bowline Dyson won the opening A1 525 by a length for Ballyduff trainer, Chris Houlihan, and Tarbert owner, Danny Gallagher, while Ballyfidora Sid won a later A3 525 by six lengths for local joint owners, Joseph O’Sullivan and Jeremiah Moriarty.

A double was recorded by Listowel owner, Patrick McCarthy, with Bonnie Ranger (29.68) and Bonnie Rover (29.19), though a stewards’ inquiry into the running of the latter was deemed necessary and he must run two clearance trials.

Other winners were Nocturnal Mo, 29.08; Millridge Cora, 29.12; Coom Ruadh, 29.16; Rise High, 29.03; Shronedraugh Kid, 29.38; Training Board, 29.87.

STARTING at Tralee Track this Friday night is the John and Mary Killeacle Dowling A1 570 Sweepstake. It always takes a very good greyhound to win this very popular event, with the 570yds trip putting them all to a stern test.

Saturday night, of course, sees the start of the €80,000-to-the-winner Kirby Sweepstake at Limerick and nobody at Tralee Track will want to miss the action on the track monitors.

SHELBOURNE Park is featuring the Bresbet Gold Cup over 550yds and Liam Dowling’s Ballymac Finn, a short-head runner-up to kennelmate, Ballymac Whispa, in the final of the Eric Browne Memorial Kingdom Derby in January, set the standard in the first round last Saturday with a quite magnificent victory in 29.66. Denis Murphy’s Callaway Pro Am also won in 29.90 and these two lead the Kerry challenge facing into the second-round heats this Saturday.

THE death has taken place of former ICC Control Steward at Tralee Track, Agnes Keogh, and sympathy goes to her son, daughters and extended family. Agnes was held with much respect in her time at the Oakview venue back the years.
