Woman (29) dies in blaze at city centre apartment
A 29-year-old woman has died in a blaze at an apartment in Dublin early today.
The fire broke out at an apartment at Temple Place, off the Grenville Street area of the north inner city, shortly after 1.30am.
The body of a the woman was removed from the scene by firemen. Her remains were taken to the city morgue and a post-mortem examination was being carried out today.
Five fire engines and two ambulances were sent to the scene.
Today, the scene of the fire was sealed off as forensic experts examined the building.
A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesman said another adult was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from smoke inhalation.
Firemen managed to confine the blaze to the apartment and no other apartments were damaged.
Meanwhile, a 93-year-old woman was taken to hospital following a fire at her home in Nutley Avenue in Donnybrook, Dublin.
Four fire engine crews went to the scene of the blaze at 11 pm last night.
The woman, who was the only occupant, was carried unconscious to an ambulance and taken to hospital.
Gardai said the woman was in a serious but stable condition at St Vincent's Hospital.
