Whitewash victory kicks off Dub County Board festivities

PITCH & PUTT By Niall Scully

A NIGHT to remember at the Green Isle Hotel. The big Five-0 for the Dublin Pitch and Putt Board.

A huge crowd turned up to mark the special birthday. Champions all.

Dublin chief Christy Broe was among them. He's the longest serving officer.

Christy has been at the coal-face for 30 years. NEC development officer Eamonn Birchall made him a special presentation.

Christy's thoughts were for others. "We all remain grateful to the early pioneers who established the County Board and who had the foresight to lease and develop the courses on which we still play today," he said to huge applause.

The president of the PPUI, Myles McMorrow, added: "In terms of organisation and enthusiasm, Dublin have set such a wonderful example."
