'We've taken stick over how we look', say Little Mix
Little Mix spoke about racy outfits
Little Mix have had to "grow a thick skin" to deal with the pressure on girls to look a certain way, band member Jesy Nelson has said.
The girls, who recently had a No 1 hit with break-up anthem Shout Out To My Ex, faced criticism over the racy outfits they wore during a performance on The X Factor last month.
Speaking on this week's Jonathan Ross Show, Nelson said the band have come in for "a lot of stick" over the way they look, especially in the early years.
"Obviously we'd just been thrown into this whole experience so we'd never experienced anything like this and it was just a bit of a shock to the system," she said.
Pressure
"I think there's a lot of pressure, especially for young girls, to look a certain way, and when we went on The X Factor we didn't look that great and we got a lot of stick for it and it was hard.
"We still get it now, but I think we've grown a thick skin to it all.
"It's hard, especially when you're so young and you're not used to people being able to comment on what you look like."
During the Jonathan Ross Show, the former X Factor winners revealed they had been caught up in an earthquake in Japan earlier this year.
"Me and Jesy were lying in bed having a little moment, a heart-to-heart, and I'm looking at her and the bed is shaking. She thought some man had come into our room and started shaking the bed," said Perrie Edwards.
Asked if they would like children, they joked that they were planning to form a new band with their offspring.
"Children will change us. We already said we're going to have kids at the same time and then we're going to form another Little Mix band," said Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
