Two facing fresh charges on hijack over soldier's car
TWO men charged over the hijacking of an army sergeant's vehicle had their cases adjourned while fresh charges are considered.
Michael Moran (21) and Joseph Haide (23) are alleged to have led a gang of up to five men to take the car near an army camp in Wicklow.
It will be claimed they led gardai on a high-speed chase before ramming into a garda car in Tallaght.
A number of gardai were injured and they were taken to hospital for treatment. The two men had their cases adjourned at Cloverhill District Court to dates in June while the DPP considers the allegations.
Moran, of Drumcairn Avenue, and Haide, of DeSelby Rise, both in Tallaght, are charged with unlawful carriage in a motor vehicle.
BLOOD
The alleged incident took place at Military Road, Kilbride Army Camp, Co Wicklow shortly after 8pm on Saturday evening, April 17.
Moran is also charged with dangerous driving at Pipers-town Road, Tallaght, refusing to provide a blood or urine specimen to gardai at Tallaght Garda Station and damaging a cell door at Tallaght station in the early hours of April 18.
Garda Niall Russell previously told a court it would be alleged that Haide and a number of others "hijacked" the vehicle of an army quarter master sergeant as he was leaving the Kilbride Army Camp.
Garda Russell said it would be alleged that the occupants of the stolen vehicle led gardai on a high-speed car chase through the Dublin mountains to Tallaght. The garda said it would be alleged a garda car was rammed on Oldcourt Road in Tallaght, and a number of gardai injured. He also said it would be alleged that the men fled from the scene, and were arrested following a foot chase.

Haide, who is on High Court bail, was remanded back to Tallaght District Court. He is a cabinet maker, and lives with his pregnant girlfriend, who is due to give birth in July.
Moran, who is in custody, will appear before Cloverhill court in two weeks time.
