Two admit ¤5m cocaine hoard

TWO men have pleaded guilty to possession of almost €5m worth of cocaine in a Cork shed last year.

The seizure of almost 80kg of cocaine was made in Bartlemy, Co Cork, last October. Sean O'Donovan (45) and Richard Deutschenbaur (56) pleaded guilty before Cork Circuit Criminal Court to possession, for sale or supply, of drugs with a street value in excess of €13,000.

O'Donovan has an address at Ballinakilla, Bartlemy, Co Cork, while Deutschenbaur -- who is German -- has an address at Stora Slatlovagen, Alinggas, Sweden. Judge Patrick Moran adjourned sentencing until June 22.

Several buses carrying Glentoran football fans were broken into during a match in Sligo -- and human excrement was left on one coach.

A woman's handbag, house and car keys and coats were stolen in the break-in as the Belfast club played Rovers in the Setanta Cup competition last night.

Excrement was smeared along the floor of one of the buses. It is believed the buses were broken into through the emergency exits while the match was on.

Jones' funeral

The three surviving Monkees aren't planning to attend Davy Jones' funeral because it would likely bring too much unwanted attention to his family during their time of grief, the group's Micky Dolenz said.

He and fellow Monkees Peter Tork, and Michael Nesmith have talked of attending one of the memorials that Jones' family is planning to hold in New York and in the late singer's native England, Dolenz said.

Obama picks up big bucks

US President Barack Obama attended a private fundraiser with about 20 wealthy donors who each gave $35,800 to his re-election effort.

Mr Obama held the event at the Jefferson Hotel near the White House. The fundraiser was closed to the media. Proceeds from the fundraiser were split between Mr Obama's re-election campaign and the Democratic Party.
