Rachel McAdams and Colin Farrell in True Detective

Rachel McAdams has told how Colin Farrell was a "delight" to work with on True Detective 2.

In classic Irish style, the pair bonded over cups of tea on set.

"Working with Colin was a delight," she said.

"He would come to my trailer for a chat and a cup of tea every day. We got really into chocolate coconut chips."

The Castleknock native is also great mates with their co-star Vince Vaughn, who says he "loves and adores" Farrell.

The popular HBO series is garnering rave reviews but it wasn't all drinking tea between takes.

The Notebook star (inset) admitted she once threw up while filming an intense shoot-out scene.

"That one took about five days," McAdams said.

Intense

"That was pretty intense. I actually puked during that scene.

"When I was running and reloading my gun - it actually wound up being about 200 yards, it was like two football fields - and I was just going all out and we did it a couple of times.

"It was really fun though. I like action. I like being thrust into that," she added.

Colin (39) is experiencing a career renaissance thanks to the role, and said the show is bigger than many of the previous films he's done.

Meanwhile, his new film - The Lobster, which is set for release in October - recently won the prestigious Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

The sci-fi romantic thriller, which also stars Rachel Weisz, was filmed in Kerry last year and received funding from the Irish Film Board.

"It is such an odd film. I don't know that I've ever seen anything like The Lobster," Colin said.
