Treacy sets her target

AIMING to get under nine minutes 44 seconds in the steeplechase at tonight's Karlstad GP in Sweden is Dunboyne's Sara Treacy.

Treacy ran a time of 9:14.14 in Letterkenny to qualify for the Rio Olympics along with Kerry O'Flaherty and Michelle Finn. However, she needs to go .15 of a second faster if she is to qualify for the World Championships in Beijing next month.

Also running in Sweden is Lennie Waite of Scotland who just missed out on Rio '16 qualification in Letterkenny. Natalya Gorchakova of Russia, who has a nine mins 35 secs personal best, will make the pace.
