Teen attack over cigarette

A TEENAGE girl, who attacked another girl during a row about a cigarette, has been spared a criminal conviction.

The 16-year-old girl had pleaded guilty last month at the Children's Court to assaulting a girl from her school, in west Dublin, on a date in May last year.

The court had heard that a friend of the defendant had attacked a girl who had refused to give her a cigarette.

The accused "jumped on another girl who tried to intervene," the court was told.
