Time to treat problems at this hospital
Something is clearly wrong with Tallaght hospital. It is quite astonishing that the State watchdog, Hiqa, should have to tell management of a modern medical facility not to be treating patients on trolleys in corridors just to ease congestion in A&E.
This is just the latest embarrassment in a litany of problems which led one coroner to express concerns about exactly how safe the hospital was.
This is one of the main hospitals in the country.
Tens of thousands of patients depend on it and many hundreds of professionals work hard there.
A report into the X-ray scandal last year called for a major revamp of the board and management.
If the Government choose to ignore that report, expect to see more problems there.
