Three-fire blaze under control

Ten vehicles from the Dublin Fire Brigade, including six pumps, responded to a fire in the old motor tax office at Chancery Street today.

Officer in control, Greg O'Dwyer from Tara Street station, said there were three separate fires within the six-storey building.

The fire broke out at around 8am and up to ten Dublin Fire Brigade vehicles responded, including six pumps, a turntable ladder, and the command and control unit.

Two ambulances were also on standby in case any casualties were discovered. Student killer arranged lunch

The student who killed two pupils at a US school on Friday invited his victims to lunch by text message, then shot them at their table.

Sheriff Ty Trenary said that five students were at a lunch table at Marysville-Pilchuck High School north of Seattle in Washington state when they were shot by 15-year-old Jaylen Fryberg. Fryberg then committed suicide.

Detectives are digging through text messages, phone and social media records as part of an investigation that could take months, Mr Trenary said.

Families receive war remains

The small farmers came from remote mountains and jungle valleys to receive the exhumed remains of loved ones killed three decades ago during Peru's dirty war.

Hundreds arrived in the Ayacucho state capital for yesterday's handover of 80 sets of remains.

Forensic teams have been exhuming victims of Peru's 1980-2000 internal conflict since 2006, recovering 2,925 sets of remains and identifying 1,689.

A truth commission found that some 70,000 died in the conflict.

Nutini cancels Scottish shows

Paolo Nutini has postponed his second Scottish show after being diagnosed with severe tonsillitis.

The Scots singer was due to take to the stage at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow last night and tonight but "following medical advice" had to call off the gigs.

Nutini is due to play in Dublin next Monday as part of his European tour, which includes London and Paris.
