Three door Astra set to steal the show at debut in Paris

IT’S being described as a concept, but a closer look tells us that this is actually the next generation three-door sporty Astra destined for the Irish market next year.

Opel’s OPC-style hot hatch will take to the ramp at next month’s Paris Motor Show and shares pretty much same genetics as it’s uber sexy five-door big sister.

There’s evidence of the fabulous Insignia here too including its trademark scoop which runs along the bottom door panels.

Although, this is first and foremost a GTi/Focus RS 300bhp rival, it’s the tamer versions which will be popular among Irish drivers.

Most orders will be for the 1.4-litre and 1.6 turbo petrols and the 2.0-litre diesel, but it’s the mega frugal 1.7-litre ecoFLEX oil-burner which will attract the lowest VRT, road tax and happy punters.
