Three charged on chemist raid

A 31-YEAR-OLD man and two youths have been charged over a robbery at a pharmacy in north Dublin.

Shane Doyle, of Annamoe Terrace, Cabra, Dublin, and two 17-year-old boys, who cannot be named, were charged with robbery of €800 and various medicines, from Doc Morris Pharmacy, in Cabra.

Dublin Children's Court heard the three were arrested on Wednesday night and they made no reply when charged.

The two teens were granted bail and legal aid and were remanded to appear again on a date in May. Doyle was remanded in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court on April 4 next.

Militants killed in drone attack

A suspected US drone has fired two missiles at a house in north-west Pakistan, killing three alleged militants.

The attack occurred early this morning in Miran Shah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal area, a key sanctuary for Taliban and al- Qa'ida militants.

Four suspected militants were also wounded, and foreigners were believed to be among the group hit.

The strike may exacerbate US tensions with Pakistan.

Corruption quiz hits Hong Kong

Two billionaire brothers who run Hong Kong's biggest property developer and a former senior government official have been arrested for suspected corruption.

Thomas and Raymond Kwok, joint chairmen and managing directors of Sun Hung Kai Properties, were arrested by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the company said.

The anti-corruption watchdog said it also arrested a former senior official whom it did not name.

Penny drops for Canadians

Canada has announced it is scrapping the penny.

The one-cent piece is set to disappear from Canadian pockets, a victim of inflation.

Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced in the federal budget that the Royal Canadian Mint will strike the last of the little coins this autumn. Each cent coin was costing 1.6 cents to make.
