TWO of Ireland's most luxurious hotels have come up with ideas to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Both are a short hop from the city, but are places where you will be transported to a quieter way of life.

Marlfield House Hotel in Gorey, Co Wexford, is hosting on Wednesday December 7, from 4pm to 9pm. If you're stuck for a Christmas Day menu, have no fear -- guest chef Paul Flynn, from The Tannery Restaurant in Dungarvan, will be there with a cookery demonstration.

Shoppers will get plenty of gift ideas, with jewellery, skincare products, manicures and makeovers, designer gladrags, sassy shoes and handbags on offer.

Tickets cost €25 and include a glass of wine or prosecco and a light fork supper. Book on 053 9421124.

Fans of RTE's The Restaurant will get top tips on having a sweet Christmas with a baking master class from the show's Louise Lennox. It's set in the beautiful home of the show, Wineport Lodge, just outside Glasson in Co Westmeath, on Wednesday, December 14 from 3 to 5pm.

The package costs €145 per person sharing and includes an overnight stay, dinner in its famous restaurant and breakfast in bed. Phone 090 64 39010.
