The insider

The liggerati were out in force last night for the South William Street VVIP Awards. Staged at the Andrews Lane Theatre, the great and the good descended on the venue for a night of fun at the tongue-in-cheek bash.

A unique take on the culture of award ceremonies in Ireland, there was no shortage of familiar faces in attendance including Rosanna Davison, Glenda Gilson, Niall Breslin and Liam Cunningham.

The event originally started in SPY in 2010 and has grown in popularity ever since, with last night's party hosted by PR man Buzz O'Neill.

There was no shortage of accolades up for grabs either, including Party Girl of the Year, Best Haircut, Ride of the Year and of course, the VVIP award.

Ireland's all-female comedy sensation The Nualas will be taking to the stage at Vicar Street on June 8 with their new show One Night of Dignity.

They're promising plenty of self-penned numbers, ambitious choreography, vocal harmonies and a night packed with "craic and chat".

They'll be reprising Nuala classics including Manolo and Girl With A Cabbage For A Head alongside new numbers such as The Sexy Farm Song. Last year saw the group relaunching themselves with an appearance on The Late Late Show with their song Yummy Mummy Recession Blues. Tickets for One Night of Dignity are on sale now, priced at €25.

The style crew will be donning their Louboutins this Monday to head to Fairyhouse racecourse for the Ladbrokes Irish Grand National -- and this year sees Carton House sponsoring the Most Stylish Lady competition.

Casting a discerning eye over proceedings as one of the judges will be Herald advice columnist Rosanna Davison, who'll be joined by stylist Brendan Courtney and Carton House manager David Webster.

They have revealed that they're looking out for the colour red when it comes to picking the overall winner.

The victor will receive a prize package to the value of €8,000 from the Kildare hotel, alongside a gift from Lancome worth a cool €500.
