The Insider: 21/01/2010

- We'll have some true Hollywood talent in our midst next month with the long-awaited arrival of actor Samuel L Jackson.

The star has confirmed he'll be jetting into the capital on February 13 for a special benefit evening entitled Night For Love.

He has agreed to host a pre-Valentine's Day dinner alongside Boyzone's Keith Duffy at the O'Reilly Hall in UCD, which should be attended by many of our best-known faces.

The pair will be raising funds for the singer's charity Irish Autism Action, with all the dishes at the black-tie ball created by Michelin-starred chef Richard Corrigan.

- RTE presenter Brian Ormond will be out to prove he's a dab hand in the kitchen next week -- given that he's due to marry model Pippa O'Connor this year.

The ICE frontman and panto star has signed up to take part in the forthcoming Look Who's In The Kitchen charity event in Angler's Rest in Chapelizod.

Brian will be joining forces with head chef Bob Azhar as they endeavour to come up with a tasty selection of dishes to suit everyone's discerning palette.

A source told the Diary how Brian will be keeping it close to home by serving his granny's favourite dish of Colcannon with fillet steak. Also on his list for the night will be confit of duck, while his dessert menu will include chocolate orange mousse -- which is a big hit with svelte Pippa. Tickets cost €50 a head, with proceeds going towards the Irish Zambian Aid Project.

- Dublin brides-to-be will no doubt be beating a path to the Berkeley Court hotel next week for the unveiling of an exclusive new bridal collection.

Designer Delphine Grandjouan, from the House of Delphine, will be showing off all the hottest bridal looks for 2010 at the invite-only bash in the D4 hotel. And in good news for all recession-chic brides, she has promised that all the handmade pieces won't cost you the earth and are designed to suit your specific shape.

- The acclaimed Gate production of Faith Healer, which previously featured award-winning actor Ralph Fiennes, will be returning to the capital.

The Brian Friel play went down a storm with audiences in Sydney and Edinburgh and this year's play is directed again by the theatre's Michael Colgan, featuring performances from Owen Roe, Ingrid Craigie and Kim Durham. The red carpet will be rolled out at the northside theatre on January 27 and will run for 23 performances.
