Teenager in 'ginger' insults to garda
AN OFF-DUTY garda was insulted and called a "ginger b******" by an onlooker as he was trying to deal with five other youths who had allegedly damaged property.
Graham Tallant (19) shouted at the men "just walk away, f*** him, what can he do" during the public order incident in Glenageary Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, on June 26 last year.
The defendant, of Meadowlands Park, Mountown, Dun Laoghaire, admitted before Dun Laoghaire District Court to failing to follow the directions of a garda.
Duty
Garda Neil Doyle said he was in plain clothes and off duty when Tallant approached him. The garda said he was trying to deal with five men who were suspected of criminal damage.
He said Tallant approached him and started shouting: "f*** him, what can he do, just walk away from that ginger b******".
Garda Doyle directed Tallant to leave but the defendant shouted "who's going to make me, you make me, you f***in' p****".
Judge Bridget Reilly ordered a probation report and adjourned sentencing to a date in May.
