Teen on trial for spitting at garda
a 17-YEAR-OLD boy has gone on trial accused of spitting into a garda's face during an incident at the holding cells in Dublin Children's Court.
The youth has pleaded not guilty to assaulting Garda Colleen Gallagher on April 30 last.
Gda Gallagher told the Children's' Court that a bench warrant had been issued by the judge for the teen's arrest for failing to turn up for a hearing that morning.
She and eight other officers went to the boy's home and arrested him before he was brought first to Kevin Street Garda Station and then to the Children's Court where he was placed in a holding cell where he allegedly spat at the officer.
Due to legal argument, the trial was adjourned until October 13.
