Teen jailed for pizzaman theft

A YOUTH who took part in the robbery of a pizza delivery man has been detained for four months.

The then 17-year-old boy had pleaded guilty earlier at the Dublin Children's Court to robbery in Ballyfermot, on November 12, 2009.

Yesterday Judge Elizabeth MacGrath noted that the youth (now 18) had not co-operated with the Probation and Welfare Service.

The youth also admitted obstructing a garda and dangerous driving charges. He received a three-year ban.

The teen admitted his roles in the incident and paid €150 in compensation to his victim.

Town's police force resigns

AN entire police force in a northern Mexican town has resigned after a series of attacks that killed the police chief and five officers.

The 20 officers' resignations left the 13,000 people of Ascension without police services. State and federal police have taken over.

The mass resignation appeared to be connected to an attack on Tuesday by gunmen that killed three of the town's officers.

In mid-May police chief Manuel Martinez was gunned down with two other officers.

Ascension is near Ciudad Juarez, the border city that is one of Mexico's most violent and has been plagued with drug gangs for years.

NZ bans sales of 'legal weed'

NEW Zealand's parliament has voted to ban the sale of products designed to mimic the effects of marijuana.

The one-year ban covers "legal weed" products such as the popular Kronic that are designed to make users experience a high.

Stores will have seven days to remove the products.

Buffy signs for new TV show

SARAH Michelle Gellar has a new TV series, but will make a final episode of All My Children.

Gellar confirmed yesterday that she'll make a farewell appearance on the cancelled soap, where she played Kendall Hart from 1993 to 1995.

The former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star plays a woman in trouble who impersonates her twin sister in new series Ringer.
