Teen hid drugs inside an egg

A YOUTH hid cannabis inside an egg in an attempt to transport drugs into a detention centre for young offenders, a court has been told.

The Children's Court heard that the 16-year-old boy was found at a location from which drugs are thrown into St Patrick's Institution -- which is attached to Mountjoy Prison -- on October 5, 2009.

The teenager agreed to be searched €65 worth of cannabis resin was found inside an egg which fell from his pocket.

He pleaded guilty to possessing the drugs for sale or supply to another.

The judge applied the Probation Act, sparing him a conviction and a penalty.

Normal weight adults, including those who had lost a lot of weight and kept it off, ate more often than overweight people in a new study looking at factors that may help in preventing weight gain.

Researchers following about 250 people for a year found that overweight individuals ate fewer snacks in addition to meals than people in the normal weight range, but the overweight still took in more calories and they were less active over the course of the day.

Killer lodge leader jailed

A charismatic self-help author has been sentenced to two years in prison for leading an Arizona sweat lodge ceremony that ended in the deaths of three people.

The event was supposed to offer spiritual enlightenment but instead ended with disoriented participants struggling to breathe and being dragged outside.

A judge gave James Arthur Ray three, two-year sentences, to be served concurrently.
