Stynes funeral to be screened live
THE funeral of Jim Stynes is to be broadcast live into millions of Australian homes.
Channel Nine has cleared its schedule for next Tuesday. The state funeral takes place at 11am in St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne -- which is midnight on Monday Irish time. Authorities in Melbourne are preparing for what is expected to be one of the largest funerals the city has ever seen.
Giant TV screens will be erected in Federation Square in the centre of the city, where thousands of mourners are expected to gather to pay tribute to the Dubliner.
The broadcast will be hosted by veteran Australian news anchor Peter Kitchener, with roving reporters speaking to mourners on the streets.
The channel does not stream live, but Irish fans will be able to watch the funeral on its website on Tuesday afternoon.
