Steamy scenes in store for Fair City's Yare

Fair City actor Yare Jegbefume is celebrating after learning that his Fair City character Felix will be featuring in some steamy storylines.

The Dublin soap star, who is the brother of Dublin X Factor contestant Azi Jegbefume, is set to visit the Carrigstown suburb regularly after landing a semi-permanent part on the RTE show.

Ambitious Yare (26) was initially introduced for just three scenes but impressed producers when he put regular characters Dermot and Jo Fahey through their paces as social worker Felix Jones.

And while tough-talking Felix is set to air his softer side next month when a new love interest for the character is introduced, Yare is adamant that his romantic yearnings will be for the benefit of the cameras only -- given that he is happily attached.

"My girlfriend definitely won't mind, she knows that it's just a job," he said.

Awards

Yare is also celebrating after his new film, Moore Street Masala, in which he plays an African businessman, was nominated in the Short Films category in this year's IFTA Awards.

Yare is hoping his sister will make it home from Britain for the big night at the Burlington Hotel on February 20.

He says she and her band, Kandy Rain, are in the final stages of signing a record deal and is confident they have big things ahead of them.

"She's been doing a lot of gigs in the UK and I know her and the girls are in negotiations to sign a contract so it's all looking very positive for them," Yare said.
