UCD in hunt for new boss

UCD are looking for a new manager for 2015 after Aaron Callaghan left the Dublin club, writes AIDAN FITZMAURICE.

Callaghan (above) took over at Belfield last season following his exit from Bohemians but he was unable to keep College in the top flight as the Students lost to Galway FC in a promotion/relegation playoff.

Meanwhile, Bohemians boss Keith Long has looked to his former club Athlone Town for talent as two more Athlone players are heading for Dalymount Park.

Having already signed up Town stars Keelan Dillon and Dylan Hayes, over the weekend Long sealed deals to sign defender Derek Prendergast and midfielder James O'Brien, bringing to eight the number of new signings for Bohs.

Cabra lad Prendergast joins his local club Bohs after spells with Drogheda United and Athlone and Long is pleased to have the defender on board.

"Derek brings experience and he's a very good defender. He captained Drogheda to the League Cup two years ago and was one of the key men in the Drogs team that finished league runners-up that season," says Long.

"I know from having working with him last year that he's a real leader in the dressing room.

"James has a good pedigree. When he came home from Bradford, he couldn't really break in to a good St Pat's team but he showed his ability when he was with Longford and Athlone."
