Trap's wait as Dunne returns

GIOVANNI Trapattoni will offer heartfelt prayers for the health of Richard Dunne when Ireland's most important player puts his shoulder to the test over the next few days.

Dunne returns to light training with Aston Villa and is adamant that he wants to play before the end of the season.

But Villa Park medics will dictate where he is ready for the rigours of full competitive contact after he is assessed in coming days.

Team-mate Shay Given believes that Villa's season has suffered as direct consequence of Dunne's absence, which could be most keenly felt when Bolton are the visitors for a relegation six-pointer tomorrow night.

"You can blame our position on injuries to key players, like Richard Dunne and Darren Bent," said Given.

"They are very experienced players and we are relying on very young players."
