GIOVANNI Trapattoni has warned that he can’t perform a "miracle" as he prepares to send out a team based around youth and inexperience against |Germany at the Aviva tonight.
His preference was always to hang on to old-timers Shay Given, Damien Duff, Richard Dunne and Robbie Keane, but retirement and injury have left Trapattoni's cupboard bare.
“I am not a miracle worker,” he said when asked by a German journalist about Ireland's chances.
“We have our quality and our commitment and if we can do what the players have been doing in training on the night, we will give Germany a game,” he said.
“This is the most important match in the series, one of those games I'd love to play myself,” said Trap before adding: “It is time to change the page and look at the new energy.”
