MANCHESTER United could be crowned Premier League champions in six days if Manchester City's Mario Balotelli-generated implosion continues.

While Roberto Mancini had his head in his hands at the Emirates and Balotelli's on a chopping block, Alex Ferguson's United front held up under the pressure with a 2-0 win over QPR, thanks to goals from Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney (right).

"We did our job," said the Old Trafford supremo and if his players continue in that vein on Wednesday away to Wigan and home to Aston Villa on Sunday, Manchester United will be tantalisingly close to their 20th title.

Mancini could only watch his ambitions go up in smoke while Balotelli (left) saw red during Arsenal's 1-0 victory and the City boss has vowed to show him the door this summer.

But Mancini's own future is now in serious doubt and if Manchester City's form freefall continues against West Brom (at home ) in 48 hours time and Norwich (away) next weekend, he will hand the League Crown to Fergie.
