Sweet scent of Raytown goes on for Martin

HAPPY days at Raytown and at Clanna Gael Fontenoy. Martin McDonnell is proud to be a Ringsender.

Fond recollections of the club, and some of the figures that shaped his life - Frank White, John Egan, and the Laois Lion, Fintan Walsh.

Frank became an icon of Clanns. And of the locality.

Fintan was one of the finest footballers in Ireland. And he's still giving his time with Cumann na mBunscol.

John went on to become one of the top administrators in the county, serving as the chairman of the Dublin County Board.

"Clanns have come a long way since the days when I played," recalls Martin.

"We used to get changed at the side of the wall in Ringsend Park.

"God bless, John Egan. He had a Renault 4. For away matches, he must have set some kind of world record for the amount of players he was able to get into it!

"It's marvellous to see the club today. They have come on so much.

"A marvellous clubhouse and excellent pitches.

The facilities are just superb, and they deserve it."
