Yeates looking to kick on

FORMER Tottenham man Mark Yeates hopes that his goal in Watford's win over Reading can kick-start his season, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.

Dubliner Yeates joined Watford from Sheffield United in the summer but it was a difficult start to the season for the Tallaght man and the club dropped into the bottom three in the Championship. However, Yeates starred as the Hornets won 2-0 away to Reading.

"I am sure we can do well together. This win has been a long time coming and it's not nice seeing yourself in the bottom three," said the former U21 cap, pleased with his stunning goal.

"I have done that at every club I've been at but I have been given a bit of stick this season as I haven't had a chance, that was my first."

Yeates played Premier League football as a teenager with Spurs before spells with Colchester United, Middlesbrough and Sheffield United.
