WE'RE NOT here for the beer - that's the clear message from Keith Andrews as Ireland stepped up their Euro 2012 preparations today, with Robbie Keane and Glenn Whelan joining up with the squad in Dublin for the first full-blown training session.
Giovanni Trapattoni was putting his players through their paces at a sunny Malahide today, with a double training session as well as some work in the gym as the squad prepared for Keane's arrival from Los Angeles, his hamstring injury no longer a major concern for the Irish boss.
And midfielder Andrews insists that it's all about hard work for the next 20 days before the first group game, against Croatia in Poznan.
"Of course we can qualify from the group. We're not going there for the craic, we'll leave that to the fans," said Andrews.
"The fans are there to enjoy themselves, we will enjoy ourselves by doing things right.
"We have done part of the job by qualifying but if we were going there just to make up the numbers, we may as well have left it at the playoff in Estonia.
"We are going there full of confidence, we have come through a tough group and come through a playoff, we're going there to come out of the group at the finals."
