Wembley aim for O'Donovan

FORMER Ireland B cap Roy O'Donovan is closing in on a Wembley appearance after his goal gave League Two side Northampton Town a big advantage in their promotion playoff battle with Cheltenham.

O'Donovan scored the only goal of the game as Northampton beat Cheltenham in the first leg of their play-off semi-final, and should Aidy Boothroyd's side triumph in tomorrow's second leg they will be off to Wembley for the play-off final.

"We are looking forward to Sunday, and we just want to play games," says the ex-Cork City star, who joined Northampton in mid-season after a disappointing spell with League One outfit Coventry City. For me, it's a case of the more games the better. I want the season to go on and on now as I'm starting to get into form, and to get fit, and the season is coming to an end. But hopefully there are more games to come."
