MIDDLESBROUGH boss Gordon Strachan fears that Irish midfielder Willo Flood will be out of action for some time after he dislocated his knee just eight minutes into the new season.
Dubliner Flood was making his return to action, having missed much of last season with a knee injury, but he was carried off just minutes into Boro's 3-1 defeat at home to Ipswich Town.
"We'll not see Willo for a long time because that's a bad injury. The rest of us think we've had a bad day but he's had a horrific day," Strachan said.
"He's well loved and a character in the dressing room so he's been very unlucky, especially having just come back from another long-term injury."
Meanwhile, former U19 cap Gary Mulligan has joined English non-league side Gateshead Town. The Dubliner spent last season with Northampton Town but was released in May.
