STEPHEN Ward could make his return to action with Burnley this week after a long injury lay-off.
The Ireland defender has been sidelined with an ankle injury which has forced him to miss the Clarets' last 12 games. But boss Sean Dyche says Ward is making good progress and could make his comeback in a reserve game this week.
"Wardy is going nicely. He's back training with the players actively, and looking well. He's getting a lot closer and hopefully we'll get him some game time soon, possibly this week," says Dyche.
Martin O'Neill is eager to see Ward back to fitness before next month's clash with Poland.
