Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that keeper Victor Valdes has no future at the club after he refused to play in the reserve team last season.
Reports in recent days were linking Valdes with a move to Turkey after he was left out of the United squad that has travelled to America for a pre-season tour and now Van Gaal has offered this categorical statement on the future of his back-up keeper.
When asked whether he intended to sell Valdes this summer, Val Gaal told reporters: "Yes. Victor Valdes was not selected in the tour of U.S squad because he doesn't suit our philosophy.
"The philosophy is how you play football and how you maintain your match rhythm.
"For example, he refused last season to play in the second team. That's also one aspect of our philosophy but there are a lot of other aspects of how you have to play in our philosophy in Manchester United.
"When you are not willing to follow the principles of the philosophy, then there is only one way - and that is out.
"It's a pity because we have given him the opportunity to rehabilitate and also gave a contract to him of course."
The uncertain future of the club's second choice keeper adding to the uncertainty surrounding regular starter David De Gea.
Reports in Spain suggest a deal is all-but done for De Gea to move to Real Madrid, but Van Gaal can not allow the keeper to leave this summer if he does not have a suitable replacement to call upon.

Meanwhile, United new boy Bastian Schweinsteiger has stated his intention to win trophies with United, after he completed his high profile move from Bayern Munich last weekend.
"I am very happy to be here and to play for Man Utd," said the German World Cup winner. "It is a big honour. It's a new step in my life.
"I want to win titles, it's easy. Manchester United is used to that and I am too, so that's my goal."
Schweinsteiger was joined at the press conference by fellow new arrivals Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian, with Van Gaal hailing the transfer business his club have done this summer.
"I am very happy because they are in my opinion very good players," Van Gaal said. "That is why Manchester United has bought them.
"I am very happy that they are already here before the tour because we can prepare in the tour already all the team elements what I have to implement with the new players, also Memphis Depay is here and now we have three new signings so it's much better than last year."
