United tie up Kagawa deal

MANCHESTER UNITED have made their first signing of the summer after confirming they have "reached agreement" to buy Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund.

Negotiations have been |ongoing with the Japan international for a number of weeks.

The deal is subject to a medical and work permit, although this is thought to be a formality.

It is not anticipated the deal will be completed until the end of the month as Kagawa is currently on international duty and played in Japan’s 3-0 World Cup qualifying round victory over Oman at the weekend.

Although the deal – which |is expected to cost around £12million – has been anticipated for some time, it is good news for United.

Many United fans are privately concerned about the funds being made available to Alex Ferguson and felt strengthening the midfield area was an |imperative.

As Manchester United claim |a new signing, another appears |to be on his way as midfielder Paul Pogba has revealed he is in Turin to complete his transfer to Italian champions Juventus.

The 19-year-old turned down the offer of a new contract with United and could become Juve’s first summer signing.

“I am thinking about my future, I am in Italy with Juventus to discuss my transfer,” Pogba said today.

Pogba left Le Havre to join United’s youth academy in 2009. He made just three league appearances for the Red Devils last season.
