Troy Parrott is poised to commit his future to Tottenham after being told by Jose Mourinho that he could still feature in their Champions League campaign this season.

Spurs, in FA Cup replay action tonight against Southampton, have been boosted by the news that Harry Kane could make his return from injury before the end of the season, despite being ruled out.

"Maybe we need that match for something and maybe he can help us in this match. I hope," Mourinho said of Kane's possible return for their meeting with Leicester City on the penultimate day of the league season.

There were fears for Parrott's place in the first team plans when he was dropped from the official A squad for the Champions League battle with RB Leipzig.

That was another disappointment for the Dubliner, who has not been involved in their last 14 matches, and he may not make the bench for tonight's Cup tie.

But Mourinho said Parrott's omission from the A squad was a UEFA formality and he could still be involved in the Euro ties.

"Parrott goes to the B squad. In practical terms it is the same. He is available to play," the Spurs boss said.

Parrott's advisers have been in talks with the club and having turned 18 this week, he's close to putting pen to paper on a five-year deal at Spurs.
