Trap's injury headache

SHAY Given and Kevin Kilbane are both suffering from backache and it's giving Giovanni Trapattoni a headache as preparations for Slovakia pick up.

Kilbane is rated at no better than 50/50 after his attempt to train yesterday ended abruptly but Given will start - perhaps with pain-killing injections to ease him into the game.

"The doctor said that Kevin's problem is not a muscle but I don't know exactly what it is. He is in pain," said Marco Tardelli.

The injury threatens Kilbane's astonishing 66-game consecutive run in competitive fixtures and is set to rule him out of the trip to Moscow.

Given also has an ongoing groin injury but will play even if Richard Dunne or Sean St Ledger have to take kick-outs.

"It's okay, though if he cannot kick the ball St Ledger or Dunne can do it. Personally, I would prefer if Shay has an issue with kicking that someone else should do it," claimed Tardelli.
