Trailblazing Marian target St Eunan's

MARIAN COLLEGE are on a roll and will look to continue their year of firsts when they follow up their Leinster success with an All-Ireland semi-final debut next week.

The Ballsbridge school were made to wait in last week's provincial decider, but eventually made history with a 2-0 win over St Oliver's Community College after extra-time.

Captain Dean Gannon and Eric Reynolds got the all-important goals at McKelvey Celtic FC last Friday as Marian became Leinster champions for the very first time.

The victory came with its fair share of drama for the successful side, with Reynolds missing a penalty and goalkeeper Jason Murphy forced into a crucial save at the other end.

Marian will take on Ulster champions St Eunan's College of Letterkenny in Dundalk on Tuesday (KO: 1.0pm).

Oriel Park will host the final-four clash and whether or not Marian keep their incredible season going and reach a first All-Ireland showpiece, manager Carl Brien is happy.

"At the start of the season we wouldn't have dreamt of getting this far and winning a Leinster Cup," said Brien.

"The lads are really, really excited about next week."
