Richie Towell can thrive in the Championship after his loan deal went through, Rotherham United boss Paul Warne has said.

Former Dundalk star Towell made a big impression at the Millers last season, helping the side win promotion to the Championship. He returned to Brighton for pre-season but was unable to force his way into Chris Hughton's plans, and now the Seagulls have allowed the Dubliner moved to Rotherham, on loan for the rest of the season.

"By opting to leave Brighton, he has shown a real desire to go and play and I think he will fit right in with the way we want to play," says Warne.

Meanwhile, Towell's former Dundalk team-mate Andy Boyle has joined Dundee United on loan from Preston until January.

Former Cork City and Limerick forward Chiedozie Ogbene has joined League Two side Exeter City on loan from Brentford.

"I am very excited," said Chiedozie. "You have to be excited to get an opportunity like this. I am very pleased that Exeter have great belief in me to come down here and hopefully I can help them go to where they want to go."

  • Ireland international Eunan O'Kane has dropped into League One on loan in a bid to gain first team football.

The Derry-born midfielder has not featured in the Leeds United squad this term and Luton have managed to lure him on loan until January, a return to England's third tier where O'Kane lined out for previous club Bournemouth.
