Torres wants United scalp

FERNANDO Torres believes that misfiring Chelsea can put their troubles behind them and get right back into the Premier League title race if they can snatch a win at home to leaders Manchester United tonight.

Torres may be struggling to find the target but all eyes at Stamford Bridge this evening will be on Wayne Rooney and Ashley Cole, two players who had no problems with their aim last week.

Rooney somehow escaped FA punishment, even though he clearly caught Ireland international James McCarthy with an elbow during United's win over Wigan Athletic.

Chelsea will merely fine, and not suspend or drop, Cole even though he wounded a club employee with an airgun during a training ground prank.

The pair have damaged the image of the modern professional yet again with their antics but Torres and Chelsea have problems of their own. The Spaniard is still looking for his first goal while the Blues struggle to bridge the 15-point gap between them and United.

"This will be an interesting game because it can make us come back to fight for the title. It is one of the most important games of the season right now, and if we win this one we are closer to them and we will still have one more game against them," said Torres.

"I think it is difficult for us to close this gap. We have to think game by game and stay in focus there. It will be very difficult to come back now. Manchester United can decide its destiny, and our aim is different at this moment. Our aim is to win against United."
