Everton's Europa League misery is almost over.
With one game to go, Toffees fans will be glad to see the back of a competition they have claimed just one point from, while last night's Italian opponents Atalanta and French side Lyon fight it out for top spot in Group E.
A paltry crowd watched as Everton struggle to another Europa defeat at Goodison Park. Scoring just four goals and conceding 14 in five matches tells its own story and it took Atalanta just 13 minutes to open the scoring last night, Bryan Cristante scoring from close range.
Sandro Ramirez and Tom Davies both wasted golden opportunities to draw Everton level but after the restart, Ashley Williams conceded a penalty. However, Papu Gomez saw his spot-kick saved by Joel Robles.
However, Atalanta did double their lead on 64 minutes through Cristante again.
Sandro reduced the deficit on 71 minutes, but the visitors turned the screw with late goals from substitutes Robin Gosens and an Andreas Cornelius double.
