Title down to the wire

FOR the first time in a decade the last game of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title race will be a first-v-second play-off after Cork City edged closer to a remarkable title triumph last night, writes Aidan Fitzmaurice.

John Caulfield's men made it six wins from six games with a 1-0 win at home to Bohemians and that victory, combined with dropped points for long-time leaders Dundalk away to Bray Wanderers, has handed the advantage to the men from Cork.

Dundalk needed a second-half goal from Pat Hoban to equalise and they now need to beat Cork at Oriel Park on Friday to end that 19-year wait for the Premier Division title.
