IRISH prospect Frankie Sutherland hopes that his pre-season form for QPR can help him make the grade at Loftus Road this coming season, writes AIDAN FITZMAURICE.

Capped three times at U21 level, Sutherland has yet to play a league game for Rangers but he has made an impression this summer, scoring for Harry Redknapp's side in a pre-season game against Udinese last week.

A loan move may be his best option for first-team football in the short term, but the 19-year-old hopes to get a chance under Redknapp.

"Obviously there has been so much going on at QPR, so many new players and different managers, it can be hard for young players, but I just want to keep fit and contribute all I can," said the midfielder.

"But my aim is to be a QPR player, and if I have to go out on loan again in order to achieve that, then that's what I will do."

ROSS COUNTY have signed former Ireland Under-21 international Graham Carey from their Scottish Premier League rivals St Mirren.

Dubliner Carey, who previously had spells with Celtic, Bohemians and Huddersfield, made 32 appearances for St Mirren last term but was released at the end of the season.
