Suarez hails 'special' Liverpool treble

LIVERPOOL striker Luis Suarez was happy with his audacious long-range goal that bagged his first Liverpool hat-trick ahead of this weekend's FA Cup final with Chelsea.

Suarez scored three goals and generally tormented the Norwich defence in their game on Saturday.

It was a markedly improved performance from his other games in recent weeks as he dribbled effortlessly past the challenges of Norwich players and his shots were more often on target than not.

Suarez said: "It was very special to get my first hat-trick for Liverpool but more important that the team won. It was a nice feeling to celebrate with the Liverpool fans and the team played very well.

The Uruguayan had Steven Gerrard to thank for releasing a pass towards him for his first goal.

The two have struck up a decent partnership this season and the treble against Norwich has helped Suarez reach double figures for the season. "I was grateful to Stevie for the first goal when he gave me the pass and it set us on the way to get the three points."

And it was the third goal that delighted many of his admirers. He won the ball and darted past two defenders before unleashing a chip from just inside the Norwich half to beat goalkeeper John Ruddy.

Suarez insists, though, that it wasn't his best goal and that he just got lucky. Suarez added: "It was a nice goal, a great goal but I think I've scored some other good goals as well.

"It's something I like to try. I saw the goalkeeper off his line and fortunately for me the ball went into the net and I was so happy."
