Alex Neil hopes to have Wes Hoolahan available for his Norwich City side ahead of a very important week for the relegation candidates.

On a run of seven defeats in their last eight games, Norwich face Chelsea tonight and then take on Swansea City next weekend, so manager Neil is keen to have Hoolahan and Sebastien Bassong fit again after they missed the weekend loss to league leaders Leicester City.

"We'll see how both of them respond to doing a bit of training and then we can make a decision from there.

"The rest of the players will be fine. They put a lot of energy and effort into the Leicester game but we've got two important matches coming up. Firstly we've got Chelsea tonight and then a huge game on Saturday as well, so we need to be prepared."

Meanwhile, Roberto Martinez says that Darron Gibson is getting closer to fitness.

As they had no game last weekend, Martinez took his side to Dubai for training, a chance for those struggling with injury like Gibson and Mo Besic to get up to speed.

"Mo Besic and Darron Gibson have been doing some important recovery work," said Martinez. "It was a very good period to refocus ourselves and look forward to the final third of the season. We have 12 games to go and we still want to achieve that European qualification through our league position."

Gibson has started just two games for the club this term.
