Sorry Seagulls suffer serious Fingal flogging

SPORTING FINGAL condemned Bray Wanderers to their 14th loss of the season as an Alan Kirby double sent the visitors to a 3-0 win at a soggy Carlisle Grounds last night.

Liam Buckley's side will head into their Europa League debut against Maritimo in a confident mood after this dominant display.

Wanderers 'keeper Brian Kane denied Kenny Browne from a Lorcan Fitzgerald free-kick in the ninth minute and Chris Shields was well-placed to clear Ger O'Brien's follow-up to safety.

Fingal took the lead in the 12th minute when Conan Byrne fired in a low cross from the right and Glen Crowe slid in to knock the ball home from close range.

Sporting extended their lead in the 19th minute when Kirby steered home from close range after Kane had saved at the feet of Eamon Zayed.

Zayed hit the Bray upright after a one-two with Kirby in first-half injury-time and Crowe also hit the outside of the post with a header from a Kirby cross in the 57th minute.

Kirby added the third in the 61st minute when he shot home after Zayed had volleyed against the post yet again from a Colm James cross.
