Sligo's semi setback

SLIGO ROVERS face an uphill battle to make the Setanta Sports Cup final after going down 2-0 to Crusaders at Seaview.

Veteran striker David Rainey was the hero for the Northern Irish outfit with a brace of goals as they inflicted the first defeat on new Rovers' boss Ian Baraclough.

The Crusaders took the lead in fortuitous circumstances on 41 minutes, when Chris Morrow's 40 yard free-kick hit Rainey on the heel and went in.

The second goal was more clear-cut as Rainey met McMasters cross with a powerful header nine minutes from time leaving Sligo with a mountain to climb at the Showgrounds next week.
