SHAY GIVEN believes that Aston Villa team-mate Jack Grealish has the ability to go on and win 100 caps - the Donegal man just prays that it happens in the green shirt of Ireland and not the white kit of England.
Given, in line to win his 126th cap against Oman tomorrow after a recall to the Ireland squad, has seen Grealish up close at Villa. The 18-year-old, who has been capped at U21 level by Ireland, is still undecided on his long-term international future but Given's desperate for the teenager to commit to Ireland.
"Jack's one of those ones that could play over a hundred times for Ireland.
He's one of those talented guys and you can see on the pitch that he's got it. He's a top player," says Given.
"He is only 18 and you can forget that he's only a kid, really, you try an imagine yourself inside his head. You have agents saying 'If you play for England you can do this and that'.
"I have been into his head and I imagine Roy has as well. He has played underage level for us and he's with the U21s this week, he is good enough to be in the senior team - he is that good.
"He is a very talented player and I don't to build him up too much as Roy Hodgson's ears will be pricking up in England, but he is a talented player and we hope he turns out in the green."
