Sam keeps tabs on King

JOEY O'BRIEN will take the time next week to update his club manager on how things were run at international level under Noel King as West Ham boss Sam Allardyce and the interim Ireland manager have a past history.

* When Noel King took over as manager of Limerick FC in the summer of 1992, he was taking over a role previously filled by Allardyce, who had won promotion for the club, so King was able to take the side into the top flight.

* "I will say it to him," says O'Brien when asked if Allardyce would be keen to know how his successor at Limerick is.

"He always talks about his time over here at Limerick. It's good, he has some great stories and you could listen all day to those times back then."
