ST PATRICK’S Athletic, fresh from their 5-1 Premier Division trashing of Shamrock Rovers on Friday night, will turn their attentions to the EA Sports Cup this afternoon (kick-off 3.0), as they welcome UCD to Richmond Park.
Saints manager Liam Buckley is likely to shuffle his pack for the second round tie as he keeps one eye on next Friday’s crunch league visit to Drogheda United.
“We have a squad and everyone needs to play. But we’ll be looking to win that game, and if we win it, it puts us into a quarter-final of a cup,” said Buckley.
“But not to tempt fate, UCD will be looking to win it and get to the quarters as well,” he added.
In team news, Aidan Price remains the only Pats player unavailable for selection, while a number of players including Christopher Forrester - the hero of last Friday’s win over Rovers - are to be assessed after picking up knocks in that game.
Elsewhere, Shelbourne play host to Bray (kick-off 5.0), while Premier Division leaders Sligo Rovers will take on Monaghan United at the Showgrounds. League Cup specialists Derry City welcome northern neighbours Finn Harps to the Brandywell, while Limerick FC hosts Cork City.
